Special print finishes that will impress on your corporate Christmas cards

Christmas is a great time to reach out to your customers. The season of goodwill, Christmas and the end of the year is an opportunity to thank customers for choosing you during the previous 12 months, and to acknowledge the support of suppliers.

But in a saturated marketplace, how can you ensure your Christmas card stands out. Making it personal is one such way. Add a handwritten message referencing a particular project you collaborated on to make it personal to the recipient.

This approach will have a positive impact on your client. But, to generate interest from others in the office, the design itself needs to impress. Which is where a specialist print finish can work to elevate your card.

Spot UV print finish to highlight decorative elements

Make elements of your design stand out with spot UV. A clear gloss which is applied after the ink and any lamination has dried, spot UV can highlight specific elements of a design. The resulting finish is a high gloss area which is shiny and striking to look at. A subtle effect, spot UV can add a classy look to your Christmas card.

Top Tip: If using spot UV on a Christmas card, keep it away from the fold (about 3mm should do it). This will avoid cracking which would ruin the overall effect.

Foiling for a traditional look

Look at decorated trees over yuletide and you’ll see how synonymous golds and silvers are with the season. Adding these metallic elements to your printed greeting cards can instantly add some festive charm to proceedings. The way the card shimmers when light reflects off it is particularly appealing. Silver and gold are traditional, but red is another classic Christmas colour that is particularly effective.

Laser cut elements for interesting Christmas cards

An easy way to add visual interest, cut out elements can look especially effective. Capable of cutting the most intricate of shapes, laser cutting can create an artistic impression. The final look is one of elegance, which draws the eye in.

Snowflakes are an obvious choice, but laser cutting could also work for baubles, stars or a tree.

Top Tip: Use your company’s corporate colours on the inner sheet to make it personal to your business. As this colour will be seen through the laser cut elements, this will help create awareness for your brand.

Glitter print finish to add fun

Glitter finishes are an interesting way to add sparkle to your Christmas card. Again, silvers and golds are particularly effective during this time. The shiny image will attract attention, helping to promote your brand and promote just the right image!
